We are all familiar with applying paint. But sometimes the paint has to come off the surface as well. Paint removers are one method of solving this problem. There are several types of paint removers each with its own merits
  • Methylene Chloride is the heavy duty fast acting solvent base product. It is toxic and will burn skin. Care must be used along with thick gloves, eye protection and a respirator. The beauty is that they work quickly. These strippers come in liquid and paste consistencies. These are usually washed off with solvent
  • There are environmentally friendlier strippers on the market that use less toxic chemicals to soften the paint. These, it may be argued, are more effective at removing multiple layers but the dwell time frame can span several hours or overnight. Plastic sheeting or special covers may be required to help maintain its wetness while the product works.
  • Ancillary to this group of products are graffiti and overspray removers. These can be effective at eliminating drips or adhesives.
