The wood graining process has four simple steps to create the beauty and warmth of wood
1. Apply an even coat of GRAINING BASE with a quality natural Bristle Brush. Allow graining base to dry 24 hours.
2. Apply a thin even coat of OLD MASTERS GEL STAIN or WIPING STAIN with foam brush and allow it to dry for 12 hours.
3. Apply a second coat of Old Masters stain with a foam brush. While the stain is still wet, use a graining rocker to manipulate the stain into your preferred wood graining effect. Additional tools such as flogging brushes and check rollers can be used to enhance the effect.
4. The final step in the wood graining process is the application of a clear finish coat to protect the surface. For interior projects, use Old Masters clear polyurethane and water-based polyurethanes. For exterior projects, Old Masters Spar Varnish or Waterborne Spar Urethane are good choices. Allow 48 hours of drying before applying water based finish coats. Apply the finish coat with a quality brush and allow to dry a minimum of 12 hours.
