Some surfaces have soluble material in them that will migrate through the finish coats making a displeasing appearance. Use Stain blocking primers to provide a barrier that won't let the ugly come through. The best stain blocking primers are made with resins which create a tight impassible barrier. To that end, usually oil base or shellac products are considered the best. Made in fast dry formulas, you can get back to work quickly. However many have a lot of odor. If you prefer an "Odorless Primer" we have some excellent ones to choose from including Insl-x Odorless and Zinssers BIN Advanced Synthetic Shellac. |
